It isn't everyday that a man craves goat for dinner, but when he does, it's nice to know where to turn.
Taste of India, a local restaurant, serves up hearty portions of spicy Indian cuisine to the delight of carnivores and vegetarians alike. Taste of India provides meals that combine an exotic flavor pallet with that Mom's home cooking, comfort food feeling.
The restaurant, located just west of Highway 41, near the intersection of Waube Lane and Allied Street, is large enough to accommodate almost any size group. Finding it can be tricky, but it is behind Legends Brewhouse and Eatery near Ashwaubenon Bowling Lanes.
Taste of India's vast interior has high-vaulted ceilings with extravagant chandeliers. The restaurant's walls are draped with beautiful ornate rugs. Other than the fact that customers sit at tables and not on the floor, it has an authentic Indian vibe. The food's fresh ingredients have authentic flavors as well.
Traditional Indian dishes are known for their depth of flavors and aromatic tendencies. Because of this, Indian dishes have had a dramatic effect on cuisine all over the world. Europe's Age of Discovery was due in large part to the desire for new trade routes to India for spice trade.
The Indian dish, curry, has become so popular that it has influenced cuisine all over Asia. Curry's popularity trumps even pizza's on a global level.
Entering a restaurant like Taste of India for the first time can be a bit confusing, but yields high return on investment. The experience can be an interesting change of pace and the food is a definite conversation piece.
The restaurant serves a lunch buffet with a wide variety of items during the week. The buffet is a way to try new options and can be a useful tool to the Indian novice. However, if dinner hours are more to your liking, there are a few go-to dishes that won't let you down.
The first recommendation is any heavy meat with curry. Goat and lamb immediately come to mind, but other meats fall into this category as well. The dish is stew-like and flavorful.
