As always, numerous people showed up for the event, dressed in some of the most creative costumes imaginable.
Costumes varied from David Bowie to video game characters, even a Jesus carrying his cross.
"I thought Freakfest was very enjoyable," said Aaron Dansereau, Abrams Wis. "There was good music, lots of interesting and creative costumes, and the police made sure everyone and everything remained safe and secure by the end of the night. However, it was also very crowded."
Bands were present for the night's festivities, including Third Eye Blind, and the bars were packed with people having a good night and enjoying the music.
"I felt that Madison's Halloween event of Freakfest was exciting without being overly rowdy or threatening," said Stephanie Goich, a senior English major at St. Norbert College. "I, myself, had a lot of fun, as did the friends I went with. The bars were a bit crowded, but that is to be expected. In spite of this, the service inside the bars was good and the atmosphere was welcoming."
Freakfest, being a popular event, brought out many people for the night. As a result, service was slow in the bars, making it hard to order drinks. Many of the bars had lines waiting outside to get in.
The cold weather for the night made the experience unpleasant to stand outside, but did not stop people from having a great time.
Through all the fun of Freakfest, there were times of annoyance, such as when it came time to head back home. Cab service was awful in the area and many people wandered around for quite some time, trying to catch a ride from State Street, which was a difficult task due to barricades blocking off many of the surrounding streets for Freakfest.
"The police watching over the event were nice to us, however, I found that the barricades around the capitol were impeding..." Goich said. "Perhaps if one area of Madison was shut down it would have been better."
