Gonzo, no longer just the animal with the long nose, is now a search engine for local news and events within the Green Bay area.
The Web site, gonzoguide.com, recently opened itself up to the World Wide Web with news and information, which will make it easier for college students to find something fun to do on the weekends or to catch up with news. Showing Green Bay does in fact have plenty of fun things to do.
Creator Adam Younk invested his time and energy to work toward creating awareness of all that goes on in Green Bay.
"This blog is our feeble attempt to begin reviewing and spotlighting the local restaurants, businesses, people, ideas, issues, scenes and happenings that make up Green Bay, and get your take on all of it," he said.
The site points out all the new area hot spots like Midwest Power Yoga in De Pere , a new exercise spot that welcomes all levels of fitness and for $75 a month, visitors can receive unlimited yoga strength and wellness.
The site also provides a link to the new Monzu Bistro bakery in the heart of the new Broadway district. This delicious cake-spot has a lunch and dinner menu for those looking to try something a little more upper class, along with its sweet specialty cakes and desserts.
The blog not only reviews local restaurants and venues, but provides opportunities for visitors to comment with their opinions of area locations, though all comments are asked to be kept civil. This opportunity to speak one's mind may open up new possibilities for area locations, including bringwhat it would be like to have an all- night coffee shop or the necessity of a specialty dessert bar.
To go along with the blog, Gonzo joined Facebook to further promote its existence and help raise support for the new blog.
The mission statement of the blog explains: "Our goal is to be a source for the businesses, eateries, ideas, events and sweet urban action which exists in Green Bay. We want to generate action and spur our readers to get out of their groundhog holes to see the sunshine that our area has to offer. We have a lot of good stuff in our fair city and we hope our efforts help further a community of interested and active participants.
The hope is to further the appreciation and awareness of Green Bay businesses and organizations to the residents who may not be aware of all the strong social and business possibilities that may exist.
